The World is Beautiful
Albert Renger-Patzsch : New Objectivity
Albert was a German photographer who began taking photos at the age of 12.
What is New Objectivity?
This was a German art movement that arose during the 1920s as a reaction against expression. Other translations of "New Objectivity" included "New matter-of-factness", "New Dispassion" and New Resignation". There isn't a direct English translation which breaks down the meaning.
Expressionism was a dominant form of art in Germany at the time and so expressionists abandoned nature and wanted a emotional experience. "New Objectivity" wanted to eliminate the emotional attachment people had so they could just appreciate what was really in the photo. "New Objectivity" has not only influenced photographers but music, film, theater and architecture.
My Response to New Objectivity
I think it's inevitable that photos will be emotional because people will have different reactions to photos. A photo that seems emotionless to Albert, might seem very thoughtful for someone else.

My Selection Of Albert Renger Patzsch's Images
I chose these images because they are simple objects but the close shots as well as the lighting makes them asthetically pleasing. I especially like the glass photo because of how the light shining through the glass create that silhouette in the photo. Albert Renger used the contrast, shapes and lighting to make these simple objects look interesting.
